As the end of the year approaches I like to take a few minutes to reflect on the past and try to look to the future.
This year was filled with lots of adventures and memories. We were able to travel more this year then any other year, and we have the pictures to prove it. Everything from trips to a big water park to watching a live performance at Sight and Sound Theaters. We took in every ounce.
In years past we stayed home a lot. Having a dairy farm AND a special needs child will do that. I have loved our time at home too. Raising kids on a dairy farm is hard but you get to teach them all kinds of things and they grow to have an appreciation for life and death. How many kids can say that they got to help with a live surgery being performed on a cow?
Having a special needs child kept us at more more too. We had to keep him safe from illnesses. He had a schedule to maintain. We had nurses in our home to help them and it was their job. Kind of hard to work if your boss isn’t there. Special needs families often live in isolation for many of the same reasons. But it is the most important work and I am so grateful that I was able to do it. If you are a caregiver and need someone to talk to please message me. I would love to meet you!
Now that our special needs son no longer needs us to care for him (for those that don’t know our whole story, he passed away in April 2021), and we sold our milk cows, we have been able to experience a lot more freedom. I will forever be thankful for that!
What are you thankful for? What are your goals for next year? I would love to hear about them! If you are feeling isolated please reach out and message me.
Beautiful!! So thankful for family.
