Word of the Year

Pick one word to focus on for the whole year

As we start a new year I like to look back on the past year and think about what I am thankful for, what I would like to change and set goals I want to achieve in the new year. I did that in my End of Year Reflections and talked about my word for 2022 was FREEDOM.

We fully embraced what it means to be free by selling our milk cows, losing teeth, and getting rid of glasses through surgery.

We now had the freedom to travel more and see new things like a live performance of Cinderella, many different beaches and even went to Six Flags!

We were able to honor Noelie. I got to love on other special needs moms and continue telling our story through writing and publishing book #2.

We realized just how much freedom Noelie had and took him with on every adventure. Oh the things he saw with us! Hubby and I even got to go on a few dates!

The kids got to try new things too. Paddle boarding, touching really big “turtles”, sports, scuba diving, and exploring weird local attractions, just to name a few. We were on the go and busy but loved every moment. 2022 was quite a year.

Soooo what is my word for 2023? RESTORE.

re·store

/rəˈstôr/

verb

  1. bring back (a previous right, practice, custom, or situation); reinstate.”the policy restored confidence in the banking system”Similar:reinstateput backreplacebring backreinstitutereimposereinstallrehabilitatere-establishOpposite:abolish
    • return (someone or something) to a former condition, place, or position.”the effort to restore him to office isn’t working”
    • repair or renovate (a building, work of art, vehicle, etc.) so as to return it to its original condition. “the building has been lovingly restored “Similar: repair fix mend refurbish recondition rehabilitate rebuild reconstruct remodel redecorate revamp make over overhaul redevelop

While I know that I can not restore everything back to the way they were I can focus on restoring my health, my home, my dreams and my family to the best of my ability. We are thinking about the future and how can we become the best versions of ourselves that we can be. We will repair and renovate some things and maybe build some new things. Now that we have taken time to enjoy our freedom and reconnect as a family, it is time to get to work restoring our life.

Do you have a word of the year? I would love to hear what yours is! If you haven’t heard of this then I encourage you to take some time to reflect on a word then focus on it for the whole year.
